Third leg for Viti Levu playoffs

The 2012 Fiji Sun/GP Batteries Premier division Viti Levu playoffs winner will be known this Sunday.

The venue for the third and final leg of the playoffs has been decided. Govind Park in Ba will accommodate the finale.

This comes as Rakiraki edged Tailevu Naitasiri 1-0 last Sunday at Ra Sports Complex. Having lost 1-2 at the hands of Tailevu Naitasiri during the first round Rakiraki needed two clear goals to scoop the series.

Tailevu Naitasiri on the other hand needed only a draw and they had almost wrapped up the series but an extra time goal by Thomas Vuto saw Rakiraki remain in the hunt.

“After Rakiraki’s 1-0 victory over Tailevu Naitasiri both teams were locked with 3 points, two goals forward and two against. Thus a third leg had to be played at a neutral venue and Govind Park was selected as the ideal venue,” Sheik Ibrahim the national league board chairman said.

The winner of the Viti Levu playoffs will battle Northern champion Taveuni likely next weekend.
